By contrast the photo below is much smaller in scale.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKLc0W_Mrt-PIPHdtega3Xsn4jNa_1zTBmeudP9j4PBQqg12rdKvoiAqZU1A3IfOq1YAtDyqlaOpiyLX3L7oV6jGRKmdBDkNFJyIwAP-gM-LXTr9XqQhdNcZWRIE0PwoVgJLt8oymNbJmC95nHIbtg2RtB8XvkhOL-r1jy210JOv6WeunGFzJwt2ZlXpY/s869/20220612_151236.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="869" data-original-width="869" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKLc0W_Mrt-PIPHdtega3Xsn4jNa_1zTBmeudP9j4PBQqg12rdKvoiAqZU1A3IfOq1YAtDyqlaOpiyLX3L7oV6jGRKmdBDkNFJyIwAP-gM-LXTr9XqQhdNcZWRIE0PwoVgJLt8oymNbJmC95nHIbtg2RtB8XvkhOL-r1jy210JOv6WeunGFzJwt2ZlXpY/w640-h640/20220612_151236.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The trail of water flowing back to the sea, navigating the pebbles left behind ©2024LisaLeQuelenec</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p><br /></p><br /><br />Lisa Le Quelenechttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15939073566444931704noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1893909553937403783.post-3199114389205140712024-02-08T13:29:00.001+00:002024-02-08T13:29:34.497+00:00Lokta - media experiments on new to me paper and gathering resources<p> </p><p><br /></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPHPitPPjKelUt7Ts7LBuMTP471_z1i9IFYENTTf4Idfb1OZEDVsnL9fvBVf912_zxETarXzXm-SdCUVCpPj3ILh6f7OKW6CBTJG48yMiDJO_IeiNvkqGPMXqlN767a__iHTrQprZkdl1d1fAW9qZdEZlRB-mh5txsVDQvwzXlGv0dKcIj-ugw8bLnFzQ/s2473/experiments.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2473" data-original-width="1765" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPHPitPPjKelUt7Ts7LBuMTP471_z1i9IFYENTTf4Idfb1OZEDVsnL9fvBVf912_zxETarXzXm-SdCUVCpPj3ILh6f7OKW6CBTJG48yMiDJO_IeiNvkqGPMXqlN767a__iHTrQprZkdl1d1fAW9qZdEZlRB-mh5txsVDQvwzXlGv0dKcIj-ugw8bLnFzQ/w457-h640/experiments.jpg" width="457" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Top right - experiments with different media on handmade Lokta paper<br />Top left - initial ideas for a range of colours for the project<br />Bottom - experiments with lino ink and carved stamps<br />©2024LisaLeQuelenec</td></tr></tbody></table><p><br /></p><p>Gathering thoughts and experiments to continue with the pebble project.....</p><p><br /></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-ThbiKg1Yp77XMcMKtQYo1JSFjtzII8tH3MdS3iyD-nghC9-x8Vvx2ao4QwkPsg5B590trAS11KcOyDHOt5pkcSAarPC_LqoszfJ9NN8nUQKJd6xWE_XH4ue2NQYF4fiPbBYyYHK1G_JheOsv7-LDylW362vzq2zC-1ZlfQgyYgYJxp8oeMr0ORfU6sc/s4568/IMG_0090.JPG" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4568" data-original-width="3406" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-ThbiKg1Yp77XMcMKtQYo1JSFjtzII8tH3MdS3iyD-nghC9-x8Vvx2ao4QwkPsg5B590trAS11KcOyDHOt5pkcSAarPC_LqoszfJ9NN8nUQKJd6xWE_XH4ue2NQYF4fiPbBYyYHK1G_JheOsv7-LDylW362vzq2zC-1ZlfQgyYgYJxp8oeMr0ORfU6sc/w478-h640/IMG_0090.JPG" width="478" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Experiments with different media on handmade Lokta paper ©2024LisaLeQuelenec</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p><br /></p><p>I bought some Lokta paper, it is A4 and a beautiful creamy colour, some with speckles. Armed with new plans for work and hopefully more self discipline blog-wise than I have shown last year I will be here more regularly.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">To begin the year a resolution to myself to make more time for drawing. Drawing is another area that I have neglected recently and should be one of the first signs to myself that things are going askew. Life is much better with drawing in it. The act of slowing down and looking is undervalued I think. I am a little rusty but have made a start.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">I plan to make one drawing each month this year on the theme of 'Broken But Still Beautiful'. (There may be more than 12 but I want at least 12 by the end of the year.) To start off the project this beautiful whelk shell that I picked up in Norfolk last summer. I have a lovely collection of broken whelks and the project may well be a series from these resources. I obsess over the beautiful internal twisting wave-like spiral of the columella. Even the sound of the word 'columella' I find beautiful. When I look at broken whelks I see a Barbara Hepworth or Henry Moore sculpture - a reclining figure - large scale and monumental. I have no end in mind for these drawings except to enjoy the process and get lost in the shapes, contours and textures. Lets see how I get on....</span></p><p><br /></p>Lisa Le Quelenechttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15939073566444931704noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1893909553937403783.post-69015566076271053912023-11-22T13:35:00.000+00:002023-11-22T13:35:33.714+00:00A busy week...<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxT4B_KZo7oYtGbseEGexA0te-LuC2XkWm9B9JNDWUBQngBn6yg9eA4O7CEDxd0DkiR3AWiSo8XsAgk8iXKNjPWCUiqvOZFk7neMl6iSwo_354xCXfGtMOMpnCP97kxKJ6DxSsRWkcdNHHlnYd_OYReFVGKS2TGwewQ3OkPHQVc0I4_zHTiAC-Ztf9kYQ/s2000/xmas%20fair.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2000" data-original-width="2000" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxT4B_KZo7oYtGbseEGexA0te-LuC2XkWm9B9JNDWUBQngBn6yg9eA4O7CEDxd0DkiR3AWiSo8XsAgk8iXKNjPWCUiqvOZFk7neMl6iSwo_354xCXfGtMOMpnCP97kxKJ6DxSsRWkcdNHHlnYd_OYReFVGKS2TGwewQ3OkPHQVc0I4_zHTiAC-Ztf9kYQ/w640-h640/xmas%20fair.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>Such a busy week as I am restocking some new work into my <a href="https://folksy.com/shops/seasidestudiosuk" target="_blank">Folksy Store</a>. I have been having a bit of a jujjjjge around with all my shops making new store fronts, profile pictures and even a new blog banner (I hope that you like it) to refresh everything. It feels much more co-ordinated and coherent now - hopefully it will become more recognisable too around the interweb.</p><p><br /></p><p>Of course I have also been creating some more work, I have just been lapse at getting it onto the blog - so many balls to juggle and so little time. I have been thinking hard about new ways to present work and I think sometimes it would be nice to show the inspiration behind my process. This is the latest set of work that I have produced over the last little while shown with the inspiration behind colour choices, shapes, marks and textures. I often have trouble putting that kind of thing into words but hope that these montages of images might go some way to explaining.</p><p><br /></p><p>These will all be in my <a href="https://folksy.com/shops/seasidestudiosuk" target="_blank">Folksy shop</a> by Friday for Folksy's 'Shop Early for Christmas' weekend 7th-8th October.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; It has been a steep learning curve to adjust and extend my patterns into collections but oh so enjoyable. I'm sure I will tweak and add to the work I have already done and have some new pieces that I am working on as well as plans for the future. For now I have three collections available and one that I am adding to currently. </p><p>If you haven't come across <a href="https://www.spoonflower.com/profiles/lisalequelenec" target="_blank">Spoonflower</a> before it is a print on demand website where you can buy a range of different fabric and fabric products in designs by independent artists and designers around the world. Ooops! My apologies - where did July go again? Well I have been immensely busy but more on that next post. ...</p><p><br /></p><p>My post today is to let you know about a wonderful online exhibition that I have been selected (over 700 entrants!) to be in at Folksy. So proud to have my watercolour, 'One Man and His Dog' selected as there is some stunning work by some very talented artists and crafts people. The exhibition is on for the whole of August.</p><p><br /></p><p>Click on the exhibition image in my sidebar to have a look and do let me know what you think. There is a real range of styles, subjects and mediums as I scrolled through I was opening the links of shops that I wanted to explore further. I have been bookmarking all over as I know I will need to return when gift season gets started although I might just be starting early this year as I spotted some things that would be just perfect.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFLtyh5mkLBEImHO74ViAaxWzmAIxYFS9EPR6jtXOyMI8847W5H8iSHJunp-tgPng2_8AQiHN46cDfA-pxqa7AEFHGI9cX5tpq0lFSvAE0GhSTJYFF9XL5kEO6dH0hO14GYJPGkFrCL1nj4E3WEzN0bxgwWidMAoEJkfcv0UVJzKNxHwQG_yjMqe-03MI/s2564/Seaside%20Studios%20UK%20image%20no.1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2564" data-original-width="2564" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFLtyh5mkLBEImHO74ViAaxWzmAIxYFS9EPR6jtXOyMI8847W5H8iSHJunp-tgPng2_8AQiHN46cDfA-pxqa7AEFHGI9cX5tpq0lFSvAE0GhSTJYFF9XL5kEO6dH0hO14GYJPGkFrCL1nj4E3WEzN0bxgwWidMAoEJkfcv0UVJzKNxHwQG_yjMqe-03MI/w640-h640/Seaside%20Studios%20UK%20image%20no.1.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">One Man and His Dog watercolour 37x37cm ©2023LisaLeQuelenec</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p><br /></p>Lisa Le Quelenechttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15939073566444931704noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1893909553937403783.post-57737921134644456872023-06-16T14:21:00.000+01:002023-06-16T14:21:07.370+01:00Rockpool lino series continued & my 600th post<p> </p><p><br /></p><p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVCLTk_t4UeM8gMh8egZW3DwV5b9Bnfl9MhxYOcSsaXCW1noM44fkec--roVQ3054xfnyr75L9ZQgVRo4Etfcq_OYO3F5n1oRq260eKMKTgjyjntI2rZs8qiFjOfGw0NZb1fgV8zrRi3gjp-zTzcgzZFWvJSOWLQWBuB4Mf0UqOqrJjl2BhEGcIK_K/s2425/20230608_1845467.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2425" data-original-width="2407" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVCLTk_t4UeM8gMh8egZW3DwV5b9Bnfl9MhxYOcSsaXCW1noM44fkec--roVQ3054xfnyr75L9ZQgVRo4Etfcq_OYO3F5n1oRq260eKMKTgjyjntI2rZs8qiFjOfGw0NZb1fgV8zrRi3gjp-zTzcgzZFWvJSOWLQWBuB4Mf0UqOqrJjl2BhEGcIK_K/w636-h640/20230608_1845467.jpg" width="636" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Rockpool lino print on paper ©2023LisaLeQuelenec</td></tr></tbody></table></p><p><br /></p><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>I thought I would share a little more of this rockpool series. I have been printing slightly larger compositions on A4 paper and adding in some more different motifs. I love the delicacy of the seaweed, I think they are a good contrast to the more solid shapes of the pebbles and limpets. Other shells are starting to appear in this little ecosystem. I might be slightly in love with little yellow winkles ;o) they are appearing in all of these larger compositions.</div><div><br /></div><div>I might try out some spicy hot colours next - yellows, rusty oranges and coral. I dabbled with this combination in the A5 ones but might try upscaling that palette again. I struggle with the hotter end of the spectrum so it will be a challenge. Notice how I said coral and not red - red may be a step to far! Red makes me feel out of control and a bit shouty. Do you have a colour that you avoid in your work? </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Can you believe this is my <span style="color: #2b00fe; font-size: x-large;">600th</span> post!!! A new series of work is underway which is really quite different to the gulls I had been painting. With the arrival of longer Spring days and a little more sunshine I have been feeling the season. Of course I am still roaming the coast but I have been turning more attention to rockpools and the memories of the ones we explored in Jersey on my last trip....back to limpets and limpet rings, summery colours and the joyous feeling of long Summer days. Fresh breezy colours and simplified shapes are dominating at the moment with a little green creeping in at the edges.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1kyimn-VjiNaZT4iOSbjJeWsVcpPeMfbzrhE7wzPwjI5CRC7BxKClpdzf__gi0oOS3Q9hkQ0tWt6MTmpbCSEQIb4IL7YB1SZbFAPc_t3-6weAwqk-zwjQVnlJclBhAGCOCPRVrI7RuRQPzGpZD3DF6s0Y1n904MQT_LFV0fU2xnNv6FtIPE1mwVxd/s2526/IMG_8819.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2526" data-original-width="1803" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1kyimn-VjiNaZT4iOSbjJeWsVcpPeMfbzrhE7wzPwjI5CRC7BxKClpdzf__gi0oOS3Q9hkQ0tWt6MTmpbCSEQIb4IL7YB1SZbFAPc_t3-6weAwqk-zwjQVnlJclBhAGCOCPRVrI7RuRQPzGpZD3DF6s0Y1n904MQT_LFV0fU2xnNv6FtIPE1mwVxd/w456-h640/IMG_8819.JPG" width="456" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Rockpool Series 13x17.5cm lino monoprint ©2023LisaLeQuelenec</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKL-uhXC7nWqf-9PHt0mlGWZF2-tan5EPAVYpyWpxlAyyC_qkTMRrtlZudg3kQQtOAUkrqw4QUdDMUkBgDq-HXDo32Eexx1CDtRuBnIu0YG-GuklQnio_XQ5q-l2rkRzdLM_gxIILKyh2FBHY2HDQGDgHbsEEU1RJQauicsbckahx0SZNPONI_LidU/s2576/print%20and%20drawing.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2576" data-original-width="1913" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKL-uhXC7nWqf-9PHt0mlGWZF2-tan5EPAVYpyWpxlAyyC_qkTMRrtlZudg3kQQtOAUkrqw4QUdDMUkBgDq-HXDo32Eexx1CDtRuBnIu0YG-GuklQnio_XQ5q-l2rkRzdLM_gxIILKyh2FBHY2HDQGDgHbsEEU1RJQauicsbckahx0SZNPONI_LidU/w476-h640/print%20and%20drawing.jpg" width="476" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Rockpool Series approximately 14x20cm lino monoprints with added drawing ©2023LisaLeQuelenec</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p><br /></p><p>Added drawing and mark making and then with the promise of some hot sun to come....golden yellow. That happened with this print below. The plate for some reason known only to the gods of print slid in the press making these lovely marks suggesting cliffs. My work is usually of the sea from the shore or clifftop but now I am thinking in terms of from the sea/sky. Ideas are percolating slowly forming more thinking in ink is needed....</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmrRPjxvvSHng_3vrP3vMSKEOkVLfaqHSuucnLB_D6DcHUfuwzj0MTquCW5uvQdghONvQHzAxxSVMzLmUHa2cgYuq7_Ngah9OoALfloMEJ5D3z7oHDEPP6jCz_hrMVjEJCiR16VqbYfCB9vDiTrgWlH9MUljIP75wtUVY_oip-RJsZ6eVY9GHiIxwi/s2374/IMG_8617.JPG" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2374" data-original-width="1958" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmrRPjxvvSHng_3vrP3vMSKEOkVLfaqHSuucnLB_D6DcHUfuwzj0MTquCW5uvQdghONvQHzAxxSVMzLmUHa2cgYuq7_Ngah9OoALfloMEJ5D3z7oHDEPP6jCz_hrMVjEJCiR16VqbYfCB9vDiTrgWlH9MUljIP75wtUVY_oip-RJsZ6eVY9GHiIxwi/w528-h640/IMG_8617.JPG" width="528" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Listening to the Wind monoprint and mixed media ©2023LisaLeQuelenec</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p><br /></p><p>The print below on the left is where I had been intending to go. I feel I may just have some gull in my genes as I circle back to them in my work again and again. At the end of a project I store all my reference materials, sketchbooks and experiments and notes in a folder. I often return to subjects when something new catches my eye or an idea for combinations or new connections are made. Sometimes just revisiting a folder strikes up new ideas on its own. It is good to have all the visual stimulus in one place waiting to be plundered again. </span></p><p><span face="-apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, "Segoe UI", Roboto, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #262626;"><br /></span></p><p><span face="-apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, "Segoe UI", Roboto, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #262626;"> I think some monoprinting may be in order to think in ink.</span></p><p><span face="-apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, "Segoe UI", Roboto, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #262626;"><br /></span></p><p><br /></p><div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCFoagSJDsNBCVUHQNhRwyJId-yaYaijbLHQ7foCE6IBQJl1o3jJKlc9-55_Or5t5auGzfsO5lFQBNcADgYjhit1a-RCeYKZHy_6MtEMha5a4xqJEt4RqLnA2IUM2oysxEbxm_E4IQRi4zgNuoXCfP9zh1QfXyVuQ_7sRC8Qndwi0mBQvFlB3JzhFv/s2838/IMG_6915.JPG" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2838" data-original-width="2838" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCFoagSJDsNBCVUHQNhRwyJId-yaYaijbLHQ7foCE6IBQJl1o3jJKlc9-55_Or5t5auGzfsO5lFQBNcADgYjhit1a-RCeYKZHy_6MtEMha5a4xqJEt4RqLnA2IUM2oysxEbxm_E4IQRi4zgNuoXCfP9zh1QfXyVuQ_7sRC8Qndwi0mBQvFlB3JzhFv/w640-h640/IMG_6915.JPG" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Gliding 13x13cm monoprint ©2023LisaLeQuelenec <br /><br /><br />This monoprint is available in my <a href="https://folksy.com/shops/seasidestudiosuk" target="_blank">Folksy store</a>.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /></td></tr></tbody></table></div>Lisa Le Quelenechttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15939073566444931704noreply@blogger.com3
