Serene Seas watercolour 14x17cm ©2011 Lisa Le Quelenec |
I used perylene maroon, indigo and raw sienna, the same combination as the still life of mugs here . This time though the emphasis was more on indigo in the colour mixing. I like these bruise-like colours. Whilst waiting for the washes to dry I was busy colour washing frames, tomorrow is a framing day and between you and me I'm quite looking forward to it.
Hi Liza, this is both moody and really cool! I wish you were participating in my 100 washes challenge blog (lol).....Good luck with your framing. The joy is at the end, when everything looks really nice.
ReplyDeleteI love your serene sea it is really beautiful, very peaceful indeed with lovely colours.
ReplyDeleteI am most impressed if you do your own framing which is a very skilled job. I have never used perylene maroon and will check out where it is available in oil and acrylic. Lovely use of the colour mixing in "Serene Seas"
ReplyDeleteHi Maggie thank you. I've been keeping up with all the amazing things happening at the 100 washes blog, there's some really great work. Having a page for each artist and showing the work in order is genius, it's lovely to see the development of a body of work from such dedicated and talented artists. I confess, I would have loved to have joined in but when you started I was unsure if I would have the time to commit so instead I've followed from the sidelines.
ReplyDeleteHello and welcome Caroline, Thank you very much for stopping by.
Hi Roger, thanks. One of my favourite tasks when I had a 'proper' job was picture framing. (I find the perlyene maroon a bit scarey on its own but love it for colour mixing.)
