Across the Fields acrylic on board 17x17cm ©2011 Lisa Le Quelenec |
The roots of this painting lay more in memories than one actual point in time. A view across the fields toward the ruin of Corfe Castle, the village of Corfe nestles in a dip below. A warm, hazy summer evening was the order of the day yesterday, which brought these memories to mind.
Lets go to Corfe sometime and sketch. I have been meaning to for some time. Castle on hill, stone cottages and tearooms. What more could an artist ask for. Let's arrange for sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteSounds good doesn't it. It's a lovely area and there's the steam train thrown in for good measure :o)
ReplyDeleteIts lovely and very atmospheric. The soft colours and sense of distance is well done. It feels as if I'm there looking at the scene.
ReplyDeleteThank you jeanette. Did you ever come to Dorset when you lived in the UK? Corfe is such a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting of an equally beautiful place Lisa! We went to Corfe today (after the rain subsided !) on the steam train and walked the castle grounds too - both firsts :)
ReplyDeleteHi Micheal, thank you. I've been promising myself a trip back for ages. I enjoyed seeing the sketches you posted whilst you've been down. Did you do any of the castle?
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa. No, unfortunately I didn't sketch at Corfe but I did take a few photos that I may use for reference :) Feeling a bit sad to be going back tomorrow but I'm sure you and Roger will be keeping me happy with your lovely work. It's a truly inspiring place for the artist!
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad you have enjoyed your time here. Maybe next time your down the three of us could meet up for a sketch. Looking forward to seeing your approach of the castle. Safe journey.
