After a gloriously sunny Sunday it's back to being chilly and grey today making photographing this painting hard work. (The sky is slightly bluer in the painting than this picture shows.) A sleepy evening sail on a silent sea.
After my trip home I am having trouble settling down to work as there are so many ideas running through my mind. It's the opposite to painter's block and just as tricky to overcome when there just aren't enough hours in the day. I've been making lots of thumbnails and notes to get things jotted down on paper so as not to forget. Any tips for silencing my inner butterfly would be greatly appreciated.

This is beautiful, the way the colour fades into the distance on the ocean is really something. The boats bring this painting together perfectly. I feel as if I am there!
ReplyDeleteGo with the flow Lisa, forget everything, don't cook just eat fish and chips by the sea, washing piles up, dust and unmade beds etc! just work!
Yes, lovely colours and a tranquil sea.
ReplyDeleteWhen you say "tricky to photograph" do you mean that you do it outside?
Butterflys are great. I would suggest just enjoy the fact that you are having a creative surge and as Caroline says "go with the flow" - pick one idea at a time and focus all your attention on it :o)
magnifica tu obra. es una gozada contemplar el mar en tus obras.
ReplyDeleteenhorabuena por tantos buenos trabajos.
un saludo desde España.
Hello there Lisa!... A common state we all pass through immediately after high visual and spiritual stimulation!
ReplyDeleteThe answer for my Self has always been a rapid back to routine.
Here is a quote from U.S. dancer and choreographer Twyla Tharp that sums it up for me:
"Routine is as much a part of the creative process as the lightning bolt of inspiration, maybe more.
Pick one sketch or idea that really thrills your heart ... and simply "Fire away!"
Good Luck... and Good Painting!
Warmest regards,
Bruce
Thank you so much Caroline! Sparks are coming off the brushes at the moment as I quickly sketch ideas inbetween working on paintings. Housework has gone by the by although I did make use of the sunshine to dry washing today. The rain will be back soon apparently.
ReplyDeleteHi David, I photograph outside and indoors depending on where the light is best. Every now and again though I paint something and just can't capture the colours in the photo.
Hola José y bienvenido. Gracias por tomarse el tiempo para visitar y sus amables comentarios sobre mi trabajo. Mis mejores deseos.
I agree Bruce, routine is something that helps me work my best. If I have started painting by around 9.30am then the rest of the day can end up wasted. -sometimes it's the focussing on just one idea that I have trouble with :o)
