I've been experimenting with combining the two techniques using mountboard as a base for the plate. The land areas are a mixture of acrylic mediums and peeling back layers of the mountboard to reveal the texture. In the sky I used the etching tool to score lines. It is very satisfying to explore variations in mood and atmosphere by varying the inking of the plate. I can see so many avenues to explore.
The first and third are my favorites - the second seems to be too dark in the land area for my taste, but that's just me. Love the lyical quality of the monotone colors and the textures are wonderful (I do like texture! ha ha). I am glad you are still exploring with these tools and mediums!
ReplyDeleteLove your experiments! These are just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHi Rhonda, thank you. I signed up for another term printmaking at the art college. There is so much to learn and access to those lovely presses was just too tempting. There is the big added bonus of meeting and working with lots of other creative people too. This time around I am getting to do some photo etching with light sensitive plates which is very interesting as you can then etch without acid. More experiments on their way...
ReplyDeleteHi Chris, thank you. Taking this time out to play is certainly shaking things up a bit and giving me lots to think about.
