Pine cones - it started with some sketches....

...and quickly got out of hand... but in a good way. I love the structure of pine cones, such a challenge to get 'right'. There is a park I visit with my little one that guarantees we will come home with at least a few we are both as bad as each other with our little collections and we added quite a few more this summer.

Sketches and doodles turned into...

  1. Hi there Lisa!... "Pickle"?????... I'd call that a progression. As in music... notes are small ventures tonally... that can be expanded into chords. These can be pressed further into compositions. Some even lead into large scale creations... the choice is the composer's!

I love these studies and developments Lisa. I am a "cone head" addict and collector as well! HA HA!!

    Great post!

    Good Painting!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

Has autumn come to your neck of the woods yet? The shift in seasons seems to have happened rather quickly here.

  5. They are gorgeous, Lisa, I love them! I love pinecones as well and tried to paint them several times, and I know how hard they are to capture.
