Ebb and flow - collagraph and mixed media

Following on from the Elemental triptych a couple more mixed media pieces. They have proved very difficult to photograph I'm not sure if it is a problem with my camera or just that it can't cope with the subtleties of texture and tone in the printed elements.

Edges, line, boundaries, balance and texture seem to be my focus at the moment. I think I need to spend some time drawing - thinking with a pencil (or whatever else comes to hand.....).

  1. Lisa - the subject as well as the title is superb. I love the colors you have chosen for this piece as well. Hope you are having a super day.

  2. Good evening Lisa!... Everything in your current collagraph project lines up with your intended focus in my mind. Your brilliant title "Ebb and Flow" reveals itself in your pebble forms... the varying values of blue... and lines that stretch from one panel into the next.

Perhaps the whole purpose of the exercise is to achieve that subtle transition. Could that not be in some way the reason that you can't lock it down crisply with your camera?

I wonder... but regardless of that detail, the collagraph is masterfully handled. Bravo!

    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

  3. Very pretty artwork Lisa, I get a feeling of the images floating in a world of gentle blues and white. The pebbles seem almost transparent without weight and possibly fragile. It is lovely and imaginative work.

  6. Another beautiful set in the series. Each one of these is like a short, small meditation - one slows down the breathing and looks and enjoys each line and edge, each color and texture. These are fantastic and just keep getting better and better.

  7. Hi Debbie, thank you so much. It looks like Spring is springing well in your area you have such lovely photos. Best wishes to you and your mom.

Hi Bruce, thank you. Transition is such a good word - I feel like my work is transitioning into a whole new area - gently flowing if you will. I think it might be a while before I find my feet but feeling like I am on the cusp of something is rather exciting. I keep having little 'ah haaa!' moments :o) -Best wishes.

Hi Caroline, thank you. Such good words - weightless and fragile - I will add them to the list in my sketchbook. I am finding words are becoming important prompts at the moment.

    Hi Chris, thank you :o)

    Thanks Judy!

'Meditation' another great word! Thank you Rhonda. I think that is my ultimate aim for my work. That it gives a chance to stop and stare for a moment and just be calm - we always seem to be rushing around so much in this fast world of ours.

Thank you all for taking the time to comment you are helping me more than you realise to clarify my thoughts.
