River reflections - spring

Some small watercolour studies of the river from the last post. There are surprising amounts of violet in the waters shadows. Whilst the trees are still mostly bare, green buds are appearing and the colour is starting to fizz here and there.

Yesterday snowed most of the day though luckily it didn't stick. It was so fine and grainy that it looked almost like sand. Today is bright with sunshine although it does look quite chilly so there might not be much sketching done.

Lisa these watercolor sketches are magnificent! I love the reflections and colors. It´s almost abstraction art and the series is absolutely lovely. Have a nice day!

Hi Debbie, thank you. It feels very meditative when you start sketching water doesn't it. Like a mental yoga.

Hi Marcela, thank you. It was fun to explore the patterns of the ripples and reflections. There are so many colours around now after the drab of winter. I hope your spring starts soon.

What a great way of viewing trees. The reflections give them a wonderful sense of mystery and draw the viewer in. Lovely paintings, Lisa.

Hi Vandy, thank you. I enjoyed the abstractions, I quite fancy doing something on a big scale now...

Hi Jane, thanks. I hope that warmer weather is around the corner as I'm getting quite twitchy now wanting to spend a whole day outside with the sun on my skin. I would be hopeless living somewhere with a really long winter.

These are lovely Lisa. The marks are so lively and the colour hints at Spring ... maybe the warm weather will settle in soon :)

Hi Lisa, you have been very busy since my last visit to the library. It is great to see how creative you have been. Your daffodil painting is lovely, I was going to ask you if you had any daffodils open yet. Mind you with the snow showers you have been having it sounds like you have similar weather to us at the moment. No daffodils here yet, plenty of snowdrops and our winter flowering pansies just keep going right through the snow and rain. It is amazing how hardy they are as a plant. Your studies here give some nice abstract ideas. The photos are very nice too. Good to hear you are enjoying the walks outdoors again. I just walked by the sea before coming here it is still really cold but very bracing.

Hi Theresa, thank you. I hope this warm weather is on it's way. It looks like so much of the country is about to get another dose of snow today.

Hello Caroline, thank you. The daffs have been out shining in the garden for a few weeks now. They look so cheerful. Though they did have a lie down when we had snow for a day. They soon stood back up though after it cleared. The garden seems to change day by day at this time of year doesn't it.

Hi Veronika, thank you! :o)
