Smuggler's Moon - print and mixed media

Smuggler's Moon  print and mixed media 12.5x12.5cm   ©2025LisaLeQuelenec

One of the prints made and rejected from the previous post was too dark and over inked so I used the print as the plate and ran it through the press with paper over (like tonking an oil painting in a way). This resulted in a reversed image with some pleasing subtleties of texture. I worked into it whilst still wet which gave a much softer and hazier finish. Once dried I could add a moon for a feeling of the winter nights to come.

Available in my Folksy Store.

Lisa you captured the feel of a dark night with the moon behind the clouds. Adore the mood you captured here. It certainly makes me think of the heavens hovering over the sea. Hope you are having some warm autumn days before winter sets in. Hugs!

Good morning, thank you so much. Autumn is proving a funny month. We have a storm blowing through today and tomorrow and sunshine on its tail. I am wondering what the winds will help wash up onto the shore. It is strange to me that the colourful Autumn that seems to be developing here is resulting in me working in black and white. I hope you are finding time to paint, I enjoy seeing what you are doing. Best wishes.

Oh my this is very evocative, atmospheric and romantic! It could be the cover of a book of poems or of Wuthering Heights! I love what you're doing
