Start of the storm collagraph and mixed media

Ironically after days of storms I am posting this new piece whilst the sun is shining - a brief respite before the rains return. Whilst the sky is clear it is bitterly cold. My thoughts have been with the folk in the north of the country who have been flooded out of their homes and are awaiting the next round. I hope everyone stays safe, warm and dry.

With so much wild weather there has been a lot of sketching to try and capture the moments of contrasting cloud patterns and light. I have turned to collagraph experiments adding pencil on top of some of the deeper embossed textures once the ink has dried.

You've captured the rhythm of gray landscape well. The shoreline movement feels real.

So lovely! Stay warm and safe throughout this winter. I do hope it will be a mild one for most areas, but one never knows what the seasons will bring. I have to look again to define collograph and how it’s done (sure there are youtube videos of it from many people. Thanks for sharing your insight and talent with us today - enjoy the sun while you can.

Ah Lisa - this is beautiful. Sorry to read about the folks in the north of your country. Seems like storms are becoming more and more devastating. Take care and try to keep warm. Hugs!

Beautiful work Lisa! We had some snow then it melted, now it is milder again. No big storms as yet. Sorry for the folk with the flooding awful to think of the damage the water does to homes.

Hi Lisa,

A beautifully conceived and constructed subject. Your use of subtle tonal shifts creates a definite depth of field and a real sense of dimension. Bravo! One can readily tell that you are fully absorbed and enjoying your playful exploration with this difficult medium. Keep up the great work...

Warmest regards and rich blessings,
Bruce

PS Sorry for the delay in getting to add this visit and comment. Life keeps getting in the way...

Thank you so much Maywyn, best wishes.

Thank Chris :o)

Hi Rhonda, thank you. Inbetween the wet we have had a couple of days of sunshine which I have made the most of with long walks. Four paws has enjoyed it immensely...

Thank you Debbie. It's strange isn't it how there seems to be more and more extremes of weather being reported. I can't imagaine how it feels to be flooded out of your home and then to be faced with it again. Best wishes to you.

Hi Caroline, I hear that some snow may be on its way to you soon. I hope it stays beautiful and not disruptive for you. Best wishes for staying warm.

Morning Bruce and thank you. I know what you mean about life getting in the way...we seem to be on super speed now towards the holidays. It's hard to keep up. Best wishes to you and Deb.
