Across the fields

Across the Fields

The roots of this painting lay more in memories than one actual point in time. A view across the fields toward the ruin of Corfe Castle, the village of Corfe nestles in a dip below. A warm, hazy summer evening was the order of the day yesterday, which brought these memories to mind.

Lets go to Corfe sometime and sketch. I have been meaning to for some time. Castle on hill, stone cottages and tearooms. What more could an artist ask for. Let's arrange for sometime soon.

Sounds good doesn't it. It's a lovely area and there's the steam train thrown in for good measure :o)

Its lovely and very atmospheric. The soft colours and sense of distance is well done. It feels as if I'm there looking at the scene.

Thank you jeanette. Did you ever come to Dorset when you lived in the UK? Corfe is such a beautiful place.

Beautiful painting of an equally beautiful place Lisa! We went to Corfe today (after the rain subsided !) on the steam train and walked the castle grounds too - both firsts :)

Hi Micheal, thank you. I've been promising myself a trip back for ages. I enjoyed seeing the sketches you posted whilst you've been down. Did you do any of the castle?

Hi Lisa. No, unfortunately I didn't sketch at Corfe but I did take a few photos that I may use for reference :) Feeling a bit sad to be going back tomorrow but I'm sure you and Roger will be keeping me happy with your lovely work. It's a truly inspiring place for the artist!
