Two small preparatory works using graduated ink in a monoprint overlayed with colour pencil. I'm still thinking about verticals of light, contrasts, lost and found edges. If you haven't tried it soft colour pencils on top of printing textures are rather lovely to explore, you can get some very subtle colour shifts. I have been using mostly Caran d'Ache Pablo and Derwent Coloursoft pencils. I'm not sure how 'blue' to make the painting - whether I should warm it up a bit....these little prep pieces are a good way to try out different combinations.

Oh, these are both beautiful - soft, serene, and yet enough to draw one's eyes in deeper. You are really onto something with capturing the lightstruck water and sky!

VERY cool, Lisa.
Love the idea of working the pencils on top of printing textures. Beautiful results!

Thank you Rhonda. There is something about these that feels just out of reach at the moment...I'm trying to work through it on a canvas at the moment. I think I am nearly there.

Hi Chris, thank you. Maybe something to try with your journalling experiments? I like the way you can veil colour and semi obscure areas.
