True Blue - maybe..

True Blue   acrylic on canvas 30x60cm   ©Lisa Le Quelenec 2012

Yesterday I was ready to call this painting done, today I am not so sure. There is something not quite right but I don't know what it is. Maybe it's the tone of the sand in the bottom right, too dark perhaps? Maybe it doesn't need the sand and I should continue the shallow water through to the bottom of the canvas. What would you suggest? Time spent painting this canvas has felt disjointed with everything else that has been going on. I'm feeling the if, buts and maybes... maybe I will just live with it a while longer....

Good morning Lisa!... Be true to your blue.. and your heart! Trust both!

My only suggestion agrees with your own analysis. My eye keeps wanting to so to the lovely high lit crest f the central wave.

However... it keeps being drawn back down into the lower right dark area of the beach. The question to be resolved is simply... Which is the more important area to you?

Perhaps halving the dark through the addition of some lighter brown dashes might rectify your dilemma.

A grand piece at any rate!

Good Painting!
Warmest regards,
Bruce

I'm not sure you are asking for input, but if you are I'd say perhaps lighten up the sand in the lower right hand corner or reduce its expanse.

My eye goes there and then to the wave, and I'd rather go to the wave first.

But it is, as always, lovely and has great depth.

Morning Bruce, thank you. I think the dark has to go, it feels like it is shouting too much. Thank you for the help, it's always useful to borrow new eyes.

Hi Zoe, your input is always appreciated. I've got to the point where I've looked at it for too long and then gotten into a funk because it should really be finished by now... too many ideas for the next one ;o) Thank you!
